Go Rafa Go!!!

•January 31, 2008 • No Comments

Liverpool FC likes to live in the history, the club likes to savour its good moments for an entire life-time. And hence, progressing to the future seems to be a difficult proposition.

Gone are the days when LFC was unbeatable in Europe, and it’s not because the club doesn’t have the quality players; it because the manager is not thinking.

Why the f*ck would he play Harry Kewell on the pitch, put him in the starting line up when the bugger can’t cross, can’t shoot on target and can’t defend? His lousy touches are frustrating to the manager and the supporters alike.

Why isn’t Babel getting a first team place, the guy is a live wire…. he creates chances which almost half of the time results in goals.

Why is Kuyt getting so many starts even when Crouch has had good goal scoring record this year?

All this is going to effect players like Gerrard, Torres, Carragher and Alonso….

C’mon Rafa, now its time for you to win, or leave….

Hard and Fair

Aussies play their cricket hard and fair…

If you watch cricket, and follow the broadcast, you’re sure to hear/read the above words more than once. These words are used by every Australian, present or past, cricketer. Ricky Ponting, Glenn McGrath, Ian Chappel, Dead Jones, to name a few. To be fair, absolutly fair, that is just bull shit. Nothing more than the sticky f*rt from a mad cow who has a habit of romping others. It is true that the Baggy Greens are the undisputed world champions, however, their below the belt tactics leave the opposition wondering how can the ICC let this circus run this long.

Ricky ponting is a cheater, he is a disgrace to spirit of the game. If he thinks by doing one kind act he can get away with murder, then obviously he knows what you and i don’t, which is that ICC has no intention of convicting him. More than once has he indulged in activities which a respectable gentleman playing this game would not do. Here is the list with some help from Wiki,

  • Ponting was involved in a fight outside a pub in Kings Cross, New South Wales in early 1999, and earned a suspension from the national team.
  • During Australia’s tour of India in 1998, Ponting was reportedly thrown out of Equinox night club in Calcutta. The Indian papers reported that Ponting was misbehaving with several women in the nightclub. Ponting was fined for this incident, and later apologised to the nightclub staff.
  • During the 4th Test of the 2005 Ashes series, at Trent Bridge, Ponting was angrily outspoken about the use of substitute fielders by the England side, particularly after being run out by such a substitute. He directed an abusive tirade at the England dressing room and was subsequently fined 75% of his match fee.
  • In 2005 he began using cricket bats with a graphite covering over the wooden blade of the bat. This covering was ruled by the MCC to have contravened Law 6.1, which states that bats have to be made of wood, although they may be “covered with material for protection, strengthening or repair not likely to cause unacceptable damage to the ball”. Ponting and his bat supplier, Kookaburra Sport, agreed to comply.
  • Ponting has been fined for dissent on more than one occasion.
  • After the final of the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy, Ponting drew some criticism for appearing to ask BCCI president Sharad Pawar to “leave the podium” so his team could commence celebrations. The issue, while minor, was solved when Ponting issued a formal apology to Pawar.

And last but certainly not the least, in Sydney Ponting reacted angrily when asked about his appeal for a catch against Mahendra Singh Dhoni that was ruled not out because the batsman did not hit it. The ball ballooned away from Ponting at silly point and he dived to make an athletic take, which sparked loud appeals, but replays seemed to show it touching the grass.

What’s happening at Anfield?

•January 3, 2008 • No Comments

I didn’t see yesterday’s match where Liverpool drew with Wigan, but I was disgusted to see the starting line-up from the reds. What is Rafa doing with a lone striker at home? This is Anfiled god-damn-it, you’re supposed to win almost all of your games at home. Look at Man Utd or Arsenal, they’ve won 10 out of 11 (and drew the other one) games, and that’s how they stay on top. Not by drawing 5 out of your 10 games, and then still go with a single striker. This is not europe, and Wigan is not A C Milan.

Torres is quality, Babel is a gem, but what are you doing with Kewell in the starting line-up? C’mon Rafa, wake up before it is too late.

Was it worth it after all???

Date & Time : 15th Nov 2007, 12:40 PM

Location : Traffic signal between Andheri Station and Shopper’s Stop, Mumbai

I was walking in the afternoon heat, coming from Shopper’s Stop, going towards Andheri Station (West). At the traffic signal, I was waiting for the pedestrian signal to show Green, just then I heard loud sirens, of what obviously was a fire brigade truck. The truck probably wanted to turn to the left (we have no free-lefts in Mumbai, well at almost all the places), because it was on the left hand side of the road. The siren was very loud and anyone within the radius of 50 meters would have heard it. However, no one seemed to care, because no one on the road was making way for the truck to go.

There were at least 3 policemen who were present at the crossroad. And I can’t understand why none of them responded to the situation. Out of disbelief I shouted at one of the traffic policeman to get the vehicles in front of truck to move away. And all he did was casually wave his hand for 5 seconds, signaling some vehicles to move away even though the respective signal was still red. The drivers obliged and probably were thanking god for their “lucky-break”.

However this didn’t solve the problem, because the truck was still stuck in the traffic. And the policeman couldn’t care less that they did. So I thougt “What is the matter with these people, why are they not doing anything?”. I was so frustrated that I couldn’t think of anything else, I wanted to reach out to the policeman and explain them what is there duty in such cases.

Fire Truck stuck in the Jam at Andheri Station

5 minutes later, the same truck was stuck on the same road just 100 meters ahead, in front of Andheri Station, on the west side. The siren was still on, and people/cops didn’t respond to it. And this time I got a look at the firemen sitting inside the fire truck, and they were involved in a friendly chat with each other. I don’t think in case of emergency anybody would behave they way they did. Thats when it hit me, the thought that, may be, they’re not in a rush to reach somewhere, they’re not going to fight some fire, or save people. It was just a way to get preference over other vehicles, because the traffic moved really slow.

Now I’m thinking, what the f*ck…

In the state of disbelief

•September 14, 2007 • No Comments

I have been reading some stuff about history, about the various events that changed our lives directly or indirectly. About why we are like the way we are. And I have to admit, right now I am in a state of disbelief.

History is a complicated subject, you have to make sense of the things people did in the past. And most of the time you have to find the truth which is hidden by obstacles, obstacles created by others in an effort to cover up their sins and find those invisible trails that lead to the sinners.

Somehow I want to leave everything, and put all my efforts to uncover whatever is going wrong around me, but then I ask myself, will I be successful? And the fact that I can’t answer my question shatters my confidence.

I need a guide…

Hello world!

•September 1, 2007 • No Comments

Every new computer language that you learn starts with writing a hello world program, and hence I decided to start similarly, with a hello world post.

I will use this blog to blabber about what my thoughts are, about things that matter to me, or at least for which I can have an opinion.

So, Happy Reading!
